Motion Control for Paper Rewinder



CNC Design have completed the development of motion control solution for Rewinder/Unwinder machines at Han Yang Machinery Korea. The solution is applicable both for new rewinder building or rewinder retrofit. The motion control system has been based on the application of Siemens Masterdrive MC/VC AC Conveter or Siemens Simoreg DC Drive and technolgy card Simadyn D T400, which are controlled by Siemens S7-300/400 PLC over Profibus-DP.

Simadyn D T400 enables closed loop control, complex arithmatic calculation and PID tension control required in axial winder application. Siemens 1PH7 AC asynchronous motors are the best choice to drive the drums due to the high torque capacity and their robustness.

Following are the features of motion control solution for Han Yang Rewinder:

• Paper Rolls up to 5 m wide x 3.2m dia.(35 tonnes).
• Rewind speed 1800 m/min.
• Two duplex turret rewinding units with automatic splicing.
• Web Tension Curves, Rider roll curves, Load sharing curves.
• Length measurement.
• Unwind AC/DC Drives up to 560 kW .
• Peer to Peer link between drives.
• PID Tension control .
• Slitter control.
• SCADA control system. with PROFIBUS-DP link to DRIVES/PLC/SCADA.
• Managent reporting and link to MIS
