Laminating and Coating Machine Automation for Dae Jin Machinery


Dae Jin Machinery Industries manufacturer a range of laminators, rotogravure printing machines, coating and slitting machines. They are one of the leading machinery manufacturers in this field in Korea.

Located in Seoul, Daejin sell their machines in the domestic Korean Market and export particularly to other Asian countries. Until now, Dae Jin had used domestically manufactured DC motors and drives for their machines. Recently they have decided to offer their machines with AC servo Drives for improve reliability and performance.

Siemens MASTERDRIVE MC was selected due to a combination of product capability, international service and our local Korean sales and engineering support team. The first project was for a laminating machine to be supplied to a Korean research institute. The machine is designed to produce laminates for use with stick on labels.

Features of the machine include:

• Two duplex turret rewinding units with automatic splicing.
• Two coating sections.
• Multiple zone drying chambers with programmable temperature profile

Fully automatic synchronised tension control and speed control for all sections using following equipment:

• Winder/Unwind : MASTERDRIVE MC/VC with T400 winder control
• Web rollers : Siemens MASTERDRIVE MC
• AC Servo motors : Siemens 1PH7 AC servo motors
• PLC : SIMATIC S7 - 300

CNC Design is responsible for the electrical design and commissioning. The project is supported by both our Seoul Office and our Melbourne PM Engineering Team.
