Modern machine construction concepts require intelligent automation
systems. Control tasks need no longer be carried out by a
central control system, but can also be handled locally. Distributed
configurations in automation technology contribute greatly
towards improving installation and service efficiency.

The SIMODRIVE POSMO series opens up a whole
new range of possibilities in the area of machine conception.
The entire drive system is moved to a decentralized location
in or on the machine itself. It is also possible to design
the drive lay out as a mixed arrangement of central and decentralized
units.
This is made possible by the different version of SIMODRIVE
POSMO series: SIMODRIVE POSMO A and SIMODRIVE POSMO SI with
integral construction servodrive and servomotors as a compact
unit. Other versions are SIMODRIVE POSMO CD and CA in the
form of a converter which is separate from the motor.
Benefits:
- Reduced engineering costs through distributed drive architecture
(simple wiring, no need of electrical cabinets).
- Improved Production time due to short set-up times and
automated process variable setting through intelligent movement
control.
- More reliable control system since central machine control
is relieved of positioning tasks
- Units and subsets of machines can be independently started
without involving the central control
(Distributed intelligence)
- Coupling to the system is simplified (Standard PROFIBUS
DP protocols , Programming using standard tools)
