Linear Scales
HEIDENHAIN linear scales serving as linear
position measuring devices on machine tools, in robotics and
automation as well as in measuring and inspection applications.
The output signals are of sinusoidal signals either 1Vpp or
11uA level. They can be integrated easily with all range of
Siemens SINUMERIK CNC Controllers and motion control system
to perform closed loop positioning control with direct position
measurement.
Linear scales ca be manufactured with very
high accuracy. Although glass or steel scales do expand and
contract with changes in temperature, this definable effect
is more helpful than not i.e if the ambient temperature changes,
the dimension of the scales change along with those of the
workpiece to be measured and machined. If the material for
the scale carrier has the same of nearly the same coefficient
of expansion as the workpiece, the thermal compensate each
other, so the machine can function quite accurately without
costly temperature stability measures.
