Australia chooses Siemens and CNC Design for Blanking Line
Retrofits
CNC Design has just received an order from Ford Australia
to retrofit the control systems for their number 5 & number
1 blanking lines. Both orders were placed together, but the
projects are to be done consecutively.
The scope includes replacing all motors and
drives. The equipment to be used includes 1PH7 spindle motors,
1FK7 servo motors, 611U control modules, 611D power and infeed
modules, as well as gearboxes, couplings and profibus interface.
Also on offer as an option, was Active Front End, which was
immediately accepted by Ford's project manager after a previous
presentation on the advantages of this feature, which was
done by Mr Juergen Decker of the Siemens PM group, Erlangen,
during a visit to Australia earlier this year.
Total value of these two projects is approximately EUR 300,000.00,
which includes hardware, commissioning and training.
We were also informed after the order was placed, that one
of the reasons we were chosen for this project, is based on
a study Ford has carried out for reliability on a previous
retrofit completed by CNC Design with Siemens equipment. As
the previous job has run problem free since completion, they
believe they are onto a good thing.
Ford is hopefully looking to standardise on Siemens and CNC
Design to complete the retrofitting of the remainder of their
blanking lines after successful completion of the first 2.
