| SINAMICS:
New Generation of Drives from Siemens A&D
Under the name Sinamics, Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D)
is launching a new generation of drives at the Hanover Fair
Industry 2003. The new drives are suitable for any kind of
machine and are designed to match the Simatic and Simotion
automation systems from Siemens. The new comprehensive drive
system is characterized by its simple and all-round engineering
concept and provides the appropriate performance for all possible
drive tasks.
In future, Sinamics can act as a technical platform for all
A&D drives - from simple pump drives, for example, to
complex drives for Motion Control tasks in a packaging machine.
The Sinamics drive system is designed with the future in mind,
allowing the user to keep pace with innovations without changing
the basic system.
Sinamics will be available in different versions, tailored
to meet the requirements of the respective industrial applications.
All new drives have a shared, all-round platform in terms
of software and hardware. With Sinamics, the user will have
a uniform drive system for each of his machines. This means
that all the drives will have the same look and feel and that
uniform, world-wide servicing can be provided.
The simple usability of the drives will facilitate first-time
use of the Sinamics family, which is part of our Totally Integrated
Automation concept and possesses the same all-round uniformity
in terms of data management, configuration and communication.
During the Hanover Fair, the Sinamics G150 will be on show,
a drive converter specially designed for simple applications
such as pumps and fans. The presentation will also include
the Sinamics S120, a universal system module for sophisticated
drive tasks, and the compact Sinamics G110, a frequency converter
with basic functions for a wide range of industrial drive
applications in the power range from 0.12 to 3 kilowatts
