Self Study
Self-study is still the most effective form and the most economical
of further training. Growing companies in particular can save
a great deal of time and money when their employees keep themselves
up to date on the latest technology through self-study.
Through its Multimedia Self-study products,
Siemens offering an interactive self-study concept for CNC
machines which meets the demands of both beginners and skilled
workers. This concept consists of interestingly presented,
graphically sophisticated learning software and exercise books
in six different languages.
This concept makes it possible to learn all
CNC functions for a machine flexibly, reliably, quickly and
economically.
ShopMill/ShopTurn
– ideal for self-study
The basis of Siemens pioneering training
concept is ShopMill/ShopTurn, the easy, user-friendly human-machine
interface for turning, milling and drilling. This programming
tool was designed for the powerful SINUMERIK® 810D/840D
control, and its simple structure and intuitive operator interface
are ideal for self-study and computer-based training (CBT).
Even complex geometric data can be entered
and processed quickly and easily, and the easily assimilated
graphical symbols make programming child’s play.
From
machining diagram to workpiece to …
In order to make it easier for beginners
and those furthering their training to become acquainted with
the machine functions, the training CD contains a typical
milling or turning machine with ShopMill/ShopTurn control.
Because the machine can be stopped at any time, it is easy
for students to familiarize themselves with details such as
control, work area and tool change. Also part of the training
package is learning how to create a machining diagram for
ShopMill/ShopTurn, how to use the coordinate system, and how
to machine simple or complex workpieces. During animation,
tools true to the original support the entire learning process.
…
tool failure based on incorrect input: just like on the shopfloor!
Incidentally, incorrect input has the same
consequences as it will have later on the shopfloor: tools
break, the cutting plate gets too hot or breaks. In other
words, the entire learning process is the same as being on
the job in real life, and that is why it is so effective.
After completing the course, the students can test their knowledge
and can even print out a certificate as visual confirmation
of their successful completion of the course.
